Devil
This amazingly weird film is about a witch
who casts an ancient curse on people,
apparently just for fun. The plot line
nears the unintelligible, but the content
of the film is so jaw dropping, so shocking
and at times, so hilarious, it is hard
to avoid its bizarre charms. Working as
a jarring welcome into the world of the
ultra gross, low budget Honk Kong horror
films, The Devil is filled with what would
become familiar staples of the genre,
such as seemingly endless scenes of people
convulsing and vomiting worms, snakes,
slime and maggots. And when someone is
not dying via snake vomiting, there are
scenes involving goofy kids (one named
Ding Dong!), people playing in the park,
and having an all around good time, none
of which seems to match up with the grotesque
scenes that revolve around the witch's
ancient curse. What is it all about? We're
not sure, but we do know that if people
melting and throwing up various worm like
creatures is your idea of a good time,
then The Devil is for you!
